The Visual Arts team is incredibly proud to announce that several talented students from Aurora Central High School and Charles Burrell Visual and Performing Arts have been recognized with prestigious awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!

It is now official that for the first time in more than 15 years, Aurora Central High School has earned a state performance rating of “Improvement” status.

Burrell Arts named a 2025 New and Emerging School Award winner.

He’s 103 years old and has a school named after him in Aurora.

On any given weekday you can find students singing a cappella duets to scratching over beats. Each project is inspired by school's namesake Charles Burrell.

Students honored school namesake as one of the first African American musicians to obtain a major contract with a symphony.
