Applications for the 2025-26 school year for Grades K-11 are now open.

The Charles Burrell Visual and Performing Arts Campus, "Burrell Arts," is a magnet public school in the Aurora Public School System. Prospective students must submit an application through the Magnet School Application website.

Please note: Once being admitted to Charles Burrell Visual and Performing Arts K-8, students will not have to reapply or re-audition to the Burrell high school. They are automatically admitted to the high school.

Kindergarten-5th Grade

Admissions Process: Lottery

  • Submit an Application through the Magnet School Application website
  • Indicate on your child's application that you are interested in being entered into the K-5 lottery for Burrell Arts admission

6th-8th Grade

Admissions Process: Interview

  • Submit an Application through the Magnet School Application website.
  • Complete a teacher recommendation form.
  • Prospective students must also attend an in-person interview.

Interviews are conducted by school staff to determine student passion and interest in Burrell Arts. 

9th-11th Grade

Admissions Process: Interview/Audition

  • Submit an Application through the Magnet School Application website
  • Indicate for which area the student will audition - Dance, Theater, Music (Vocal, Instrumental, Production), Visual Arts, Digital Arts and Film
  • Prospective students must also attend an in-person interview and/or audition.

Enrollment will be determined on the results of the interview/audition and the student's academic records. Interviews/Auditions are evaluated by teachers and community members of the respective program.
