Welcome! I am delighted to introduce myself and look forward to meeting more people in the Aurora School District. It is my good fortune to be the Director for the Charles Burrell Visual and Performing Arts New K-12 magnet campus! Or, as we say, "Burrell Arts." I feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve the community of Aurora and the surrounding area.
I hail from Philadelphia, PA, where I worked as a founding Principal for 6 years at a newly renovated Creative Arts Magnet High School, as well as led a nationally top ranked public magnet school for 7 years. What most excites me about this next endeavor? Aurora is brimming with artists and creatives from all walks of life! So much so that the city was just officially given the status of a certified Arts district. We are thrilled by this designation, and our team of educators are excited and eager to collaborate with organizations such as the Aurora Cultural Arts District, The Fox Theatre, DAVA, Little Kids Rock,Youth on Record and countless other creative institutions both in Aurora and Denver metro area.
I believe that the Arts provide an unequalled opportunity to foster intellectual growth and curiosity in order to prepare students as an active member of a democratic society. Our vision at Burrell Arts is to prepare and empower a community of creative, confident, and caring lifelong learners
